Samaipata
Samaipata is a municipality and a small tourist town in Bolivia, the capital of the Florida province in the west of the Santa Cruz department. The town is located 119 km southwest of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, the departmental capital.
It has a subtropical temperate climate and boasts several culturally and ecologically significant tourist sites.

Fuerte de Samaipata
Recommendations: El Fuerte is located 8 km from the town of Samaipata. It is advisable to go in a private vehicle, but public transport can also be found near the main square.
At the beginning of the tour, you will find small craft stalls, a small snack shop, and restrooms. The entrance fee to El Fuerte de Samaipata is 50 Bs for foreigners and 20 Bs for nationals, and it is open from Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. It is important to note that only cash in Bolivianos is accepted. The full tour takes about two and a half hours of walking.
It is highly recommended to hire a tour guide to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of El Fuerte. The cost for a guide ranges between Bs. 100 and 150, depending on the number of tourists, but hiring this service is not mandatory.
Codo de los andes
Recommendations: El Codo de los Andes is a paradise for nature lovers. Its landscapes are as diverse as they are stunning. Its name comes from the elbow or angle shape of the Andes mountain range in this specific area.
El Codo de los Andes is located 22 km from Samaipata. First, you must reach the community of Palermo, where the tour begins. You can get there by private vehicle or through a tour company.
Upon arrival, the entrance fee is 15 Bs (cash), and the hike takes about 4 hours at a moderate pace. The best time to arrive is before noon to start as early as possible and avoid descending too late. Comfortable clothing, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, closed or trekking shoes, and a light windbreaker are recommended, as temperatures can drop a bit at the top. Additionally, bring plenty of water and a light snack.
Giant Fern Forest
Recommendations: The Giant Fern Forest is located just 30 minutes from the main square of Samaipata. To do the trekking, it is necessary to go with a tour company.
You can find various options near the square, and prices vary depending on the number of people, generally ranging from 160 to 180 Bolivianos per person. All tour companies depart around 9 AM and return between 3 PM and 6 PM.
It is important to wear sturdy boots, comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and to bring water and a snack for the journey.
LandSuá wine cellars
The LanSuá wine cellars are just a 20-minute drive from the main square of Samaipata. The entrance fee is 50 Bs per person, which includes a tour of the vineyards, cellars, and wine caves. At the end of the tour, you can taste two types of their wines. The complete tour lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours. The cellars have a restaurant called ‘La Terraza,’ where you can find lunch and dinner options.
The wine cellars are open Friday to Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Please note that minors under 18 do not pay an entrance fee but must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not allowed.
